Maturity estimates use your calculator amount & tenure (cumulative). Non-cumulative products pay interest periodically — principal at maturity is near the deposit.
Guide & FAQ
Cumulative vs non-cumulative: Cumulative reinvests interest; non-cumulative pays out periodically.
TDS: Interest is taxable; banks may deduct TDS above thresholds. Form 15G/15H may apply — not personal tax advice.
DICGC: Bank deposits insured up to ₹5 lakh/depositor/bank. dicgc.org.in · NBFC FDs are not DICGC-insured.
Premature exit: Often lower rate + penalty; tax-saving FDs usually lock 5 years.
How is FD maturity calculated here?
Cumulative estimate: A = P × (1 + r/n)^(n×t) with quarterly compounding by default (SBI Securities style). Always confirm the bank’s methodology.
Are senior citizen rates always higher?
Often ~0.25–0.50% extra on many bank slabs, but not universal. Toggle “Senior citizen rates” to rank with senior rates.
Is a 5-year tax-saving FD always best for tax?
It can claim 80C (within overall limits) but locks funds for 5 years with no premature exit. Liquidity needs matter.
Are NBFC FDs safer because rates are higher?
Higher rate usually means credit risk. Bank FDs have DICGC insurance up to limits; NBFC deposits do not.
FD vs savings vs mutual funds?
FDs prioritise capital protection and fixed rates. Savings is more liquid/lower yield. Equity/debt funds can vary and are market-linked.
FD interest rates, tenure options, fees, penalties, taxation rules, and other terms may change. Information is provided for comparison and educational purposes and should be verified with the financial institution before investing. Deposit insurance is subject to applicable rules and limits (DICGC currently up to ₹5 lakh per depositor per bank).
Common questions
Are these live bank rates?
The catalog is illustrative and dated on the page. Banks change FD rates often. Confirm the rate, tenure, and TDS with the issuer before you book.
Is this financial advice?
No. FinanceControl tools are educational. Figures are estimates, not a quote, offer, or recommendation. Confirm with the provider and a qualified professional.
